Darkhawk

Did this commish as a Christmas/New Year's/Birthday gift for a friend of mine who says he likes it.

11x17 crowquill ink on smooth plate bristol board. 3 hr pencil job, about 8 hrs on the inks, done over the weekend between watching NCAA Hoops and a little NFL playoff action.

I like doing these commissions of characters I've never even imagined doing. It's a challenge to give them a killer look and play around a little with their design and body language.

Darkhawk is being somewhat resurrected I guess and I was able to find some newer costume reference online. I sort of took that and melded it with his older costume, nixed the triangular shoulder pads for these rounder ones (I couldn't for the life of me see how his old shoulder pads allowed him to reach forward without driving the point of the pad into his biceps).

Went with the newer, sleeker visor and helm approach as well, sharpened his claws, shined up his wings, and there you have it. Darkhawk. Reimagined and shipping to my buddy.

I may throw some sort of background framework on another version of this as well. For kicks.
